Tailoring Programme

Uganda Hands for Hope started the Tailoring Programme in May 2009, thanks to the generous support of the University of Winnipeg for providing the initial equipment and funding. The workshop focuses on women in need and aims to give them a transferable skill, which they can then use to generate an income.

In the programme, which runs for three hours, three days a week, a trained professional teaches the women how to tailor clothing and make various items. Uganda Hands for Hope then helps them to find a market for their products, either locally or in western countries. A childcare service is offered at the facility for those who bring their children, and sewing machines are available for purchase by the women through our Occupational Support Programme.
